The MRI Suite consists of three distinct rooms: the imaging room, the control room, and the equipment room, each with their own lighting and room requirements. The imaging room, also referred to as the magnet room, requires non-ferrous construction materials. Because electromagnetic interference is a concern, luminaires should also meet MIL STD. 461G to ensure safe operation in that space. The imaging room can be very intimidating for a patient, so dimmable ambient light and luminaires that incorporate graphics or other biophilic elements help distract them from an otherwise stressful procedure. The control room is where the staff operates the imaging equipment. Task lighting and general ambient lighting is required. The equipment room is the service area for any remote wiring or components, and general illumination is acceptable for that room. New Star Lighting has solutions for the entire MRI Suite.
