Narrow Spectrum Light

New Star luminaires are offered in a variety of broadband white LED temperatures (from 2700K to 6500K) to provide very warm to very cool tones for the various applications where these luminaires are installed. While bright white light can provide safety in a transit station or underpass, warmer temperatures are preferred in other applications like offices, schools or medical office buildings. New Star luminaires are also used in very specific applications like surgical suites, vivariums, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities where narrow spectrum LEDs based on a specific wavelength value, or nanometer (nm) range is desired.

AMBER

In cleanroom applications, narrow spectrum amber (570nm) is used to prevent damage to light sensitive ingredients in pharmaceutical compounding. Research has also shown that different wavelengths of light can have a negative effect in IVF and stem cell research, making amber the ideal choice in those labs as well. In healthcare, amber is used in a different wavelength (585nm-595nm) for night lighting in hospitals or assisted living facilities, as it provides the proper illumination for Fall Prevention without interrupting our circadian rhythms. Research has also shown that Interrupted sleep patterns due to exposure to other wavelengths have been associated with depression and other mental health conditions that are commonly treated in behavioral health facilities.
